Several days into my test of No Limits, I still hadn’t felt the need to part with any real cash in order to continue my progress. In Need for Speed: No Limits, the publisher appears to have gone completely the other way, producing a game that’s far too generous. EA has long been accused of failing to get to grips with the balance of a free-to-play release, often charged with being way too eager to make you part with your cash early on. And, believe me, nine times out of ten, you will blow them away. This performance is a noticeable drop compared to the original Dragon Quest Builders almost across the board in both handheld and docked gameplay. Looking up at the sky and moving brings up the framerate noticeably but it just drops when you are actually building or moving around in third person or in first person while looking ahead. It fluctuates both above and below 30fps and having a 30fps cap would’ve helped a lot with maintaining a more consistent experience. Thankfully that isn’t an issue in the demo here and the game has rock solid performance on PS4 Pro.
